Occasionally I like to post a little inside preaching baseball material here and this article qualifies for that. Part of the proper approach to preaching is not to be driven by things outside of the text. The text should be applied to outside matters, not the other way around.
BUT, there is a lot in Christian culture that tempts or pushes pastors below and above the line (a concept the article discusses). The temptation is real. Sequential expositional preaching helps temper this temptation a good bit.
So, pray for me that I will always walk this line faithfully and well. Thus saith the Lord should be proclaimed if he said it and should not be made up if he didn't.
